Sons of Rock (1988) is Menudo's 24th album (5th in English).
It features Ricky Martin, Raymond Acevedo, Sergio Gonzalez, Ruben Gomez and new member Angelo Garcia. This is the first English album the band records of all new material without any previous Spanish songs translated into English. Angelo replaced Ralphy Rodriguez, after just one year of tenure, Ralphy's parents pulled him off the band citing cruel treatment by management. In late 1988/early 1989, 'Sons of Rock' was re-released with a new album cover. This time it featured a neon magenta color, as well as a new picture of the group and current line-up: Ricky Martin, Sergio Gonzalez, Ruben Gomez, Angelo Garcia and new member Robert Avellanet. Robert replaced Raymond Acevedo after he quit the group in the middle of their tour supporting this album. Some say he became upset when he was told it was his time to leave the group. Raymond felt Ricky Martin would have to be replaced before him but management wanted to keep Ricky longer so Raymond felt betrayed and quit before his replacement was ready to join the group.
